Last-minute decision: Mustafazade rejects China move

Qarabag defender chooses to stay

Qarabag defender Bahlul Mustafazade has turned down a potential transfer to Chinese club Shenzhen Peng City at the final stage.

Speaking to local media, the player’s father Alamdar Mustafayev revealed that the Chinese side had offered a 2+1-year contract and demanded the defender to join the club immediately.

However, the 29-year-old decided to stay at Qarabag, citing the team’s tight schedule and two crucial upcoming matches. The decision was made solely by the player, with no pressure from the club.

Mustafayev also confirmed there were other offers, adding that a move to Europe, especially to a club competing in European tournaments, would be more suitable than Asia.
