Crystal Palace, Leeds United handed boost in Tyrique George race

Tyrique George is open to leaving Chelsea in January to play regularly elsewhere, as the likes of Crystal Palace and Leeds United could be on alert.

According to Team Talk, Tyrique George is destined to leave Chelsea in January in search of regular game time. The young attacker has struggled for minutes this season after a breakthrough campaign last time out, as the likes of Leeds United and Crystal Palace could see their hopes boosted in pursuit of the winger.

Tyrique George impressed with some bright performances last season under Enzo Maresca, as he made 26 appearances across all competitions. Chelsea did make a host of changes and additions to their attacking setup in the summer, which has reduced the 19-year-old Chelsea prodigy’s minutes in the team.

The arrival of Alejandro Granacho aside, Maresca has preferred to use the likes of Pedro Neto, Jamie Gittens and Estevao Willian on the wings ahead of George. The 19-year-old Chelsea prodigy has accumulated only 143 minutes this season so far, as the winger is open to leaving the club in January.

George was close to joining Fulham back in the summer before the move broke down, and he remained at Chelsea. However, there’s an opening ahead of January for the talent to depart, as there are teams like Leeds United and Crystal Palace vying for his signature.

Chelsea are expected to sell him permanently to boost their standing with PSR and allow the club to spend more money on new talent. Palace or Leeds United could look at him as a potential target, as either of those teams are looking for talents of George’s quality and versatility.

What are Chelsea’s plans for Tyrique George?

Ideally, Chelsea would prefer to sell George to sister club Strasbourg, which could potentially allow them some level of control over the 19-year-old’s future. It may entirely depend on the winger’s preference to make the move to France, as he might look at the likes of Palace and Leeds United as a chance to shine in the Premier League.

However, they might be resigned to selling him to one of those Premier League sides if a serious offer does arrive on their table. For now, a loan deal may seem difficult given Chelsea would prefer a permanent sale, as it remains to be seen where the 19-year-old prodigy lands next.
