Azerbaijan’s humiliating defeat against Iceland was already a blow for fans, but Qarabağ suffered another setback as forward Nariman Akhundzade picked up an injury.

Unable to sign a new forward, Qarabağ had placed its hopes on the young attacker. Unfortunately, doctors delivered bad news – Akhundzade will be sidelined for 3-4 weeks.

Club press officer Anar Hajıyev confirmed that the player suffered a calf muscle strain and will miss the upcoming matches.

Notably, Qarabağ will face Benfica away on September 16 in the UEFA Champions League group stage.
