On August 19, Qarabağ defeated Ferencváros 3–1 away, gaining a strong advantage ahead of the return leg.

Reaching the group stage would earn Qarabağ €18.62m, while elimination in the play-offs pays only €4.29m.

If they fail to qualify for the Champions League, they will still play in the Europa League group stage, bringing total earnings of €8.6m.

The second leg will be held on August 27 at the Tofiq Bahramov Republican Stadium in Baku, with kick-off at 20:45.
