Ronaldinho’s son, Joao Mendes de Assis Moreira, has joined Championship side Hull City.

According to the Hull Daily Mail, the 20-year-old forward will be part of the club’s Under-21 squad at Bishop Burton College after leaving Burnley earlier this summer, where he featured for their Under-21s.

Speaking to ESPN earlier this year, Mendes explained he moved to England to escape comparisons with his father at Barcelona:
“I want to be João. I never wanted to be my father. Moving away from Barça was a good step for me. My father was one of the best, if not the best, to ever play the game, and being his son is a source of pride. But I try to play my football my way, without pressure.”
