The Polish Football Association has issued a statement regarding the change of captaincy in the national team.

"The Polish Football Association denies the information circulating in the media that the Polish national team board was the cause of the change of captaincy. Head coach Michał Probej did not have a meeting with the national team board and the decision was made by the coach himself."

Recall that earlier, Polish national team striker Robert Lewandowski was stripped of the captain's armband. After this incident, he decided not to play for the national team again until the head coach was changed.

Note that Michał Probej has been the head coach of the said national team since 2023. During his time in charge, the Poles were the first to be eliminated from Euro 2024. Later, the president of the Polish Football Association, Cezary Kulesza, expressed his full support for the head coach of the national team.
