Bosnia & Herzegovina continue their preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup with a friendly against North Macedonia on Friday night at Stadion Asim Ferhatovic Hase in Sarajevo.
This will be Bosnia’s second-ever World Cup appearance after previously qualifying in 2014, where they failed to progress beyond the group stage.
North Macedonia, meanwhile, missed out on qualification for this summer’s tournament and are using these friendlies to prepare for the upcoming UEFA Nations League campaign.
Sergej Barbarez’s side have shown encouraging form in recent months and will be aiming to make history by reaching the knockout stage of the World Cup for the first time.
Veteran striker Edin Dzeko continues to lead the line at the age of 40 and remains Bosnia’s all-time top scorer.
Bosnia have looked dangerous in attack, although defensive issues remain evident, with both teams scoring regularly in recent fixtures.
Head coach Goce Sedloski has included several uncapped players in the squad as he looks to refresh the team ahead of the Nations League.
Experienced names such as Ezgjan Alioski, Stole Dimitrievski, and Eljif Elmas still form the core of the side, giving North Macedonia quality and experience despite recent poor results.
The visitors remain capable in attack, but their defensive instability has been a major issue.
Bosnia enter the match as favourites due to their stronger recent form and home advantage. However, recent meetings between these nations suggest this could become another open and entertaining contest.
Goals should be expected in Sarajevo.
