Defender rejects new deal, talks already held

Liverpool defender Ibrahima Konate, whose contract expires this summer, has yet to accept the club’s new contract offer.

According to Marca, the French centre-back could continue his career in La Liga, with Real Madrid keen to sign him as a free agent.

The Spanish giants have reportedly already met with Konate’s agent and offered the 26-year-old a five-year contract.

Liverpool signed Konate from RB Leipzig in the summer of 2021 for €40 million. This season, the France international has made 31 appearances, scoring two goals.
